Marketing Manager

We’re looking for a smart, business savvy Marketing Manager who is responsible for managing all customer-related marketing aspects of several social Facebook and iOS games. This person will need a strong consumer marketing background in order to develop and execute on acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetization strategies. While funded by News Corp, Making Fun is a start-up and the role requires rolling up your sleeves to get things done and a proactive, self-starter work personality. We’re looking for someone to grow with us in order to take on greater responsibilities in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop game-specific, targeted marketing strategies that optimize for customer engagement, retention, virality, and monetization.
    • Create innovate solutions to resolve identified problems, develop test-and-learn tactics, and determine success measures of marketing tactics.
    • Work with game producers, game developers, engineers, and creative services on the execution of marketing tactics.
  • Develop and execute on customer acquisition marketing strategies for all live games.
    • Leverage understanding of Facebook and iOS advertising channels to acquire new customers to install and play Making Fun’s games.
    • Manage CPC, CPA, and overall advertising budgets for each game.
    • Work with creative services team to develop all advertising creative, and manage external ad buying partners to execute efficiently and effectively.
    • Work with game producers, game developers, and engineers to gain consensus and execute on tactics.
  • Partner closely with the internal Business (Data) Analyst to foster a company culture of being a metrics-driven organization.
    • Working with the Business Analyst, capture data, analyze game metrics, and leverage learnings in all marketing recommendations and program results.
    • Leverage data to identify areas for improvement in all customer lifecycle segments.
    • Analyze metrics and learnings to develop actionable new marketing tests and tactics that can realistically be implemented and measured for effectiveness.
  • Manage and update all game-related websites.
    • Update makingfun.com webpages, game-specific Facebook pages, YouTube pages, and iTunes store app/game descriptions.
    • Work with creative services and game developers to obtain all images and create copy as appropriate.
  • Other ad hoc marketing needs.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • 5+ years as Marketing Manager in consumer product/service categories that directly acquire customers and managing customer relationships.
  • Strategic thought leadership to proactively identify marketing needs, opportunities, and solutions – you should not be the one who just executes on plans.
  • Experience executing on Facebook advertising and iOS advertising.
  • Smart thinker with strong problem solving skills.
  • Attention to details and a commitment to producing quality work.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal — strong enough to develop persuasive Powerpoint presentations developing convincing arguments.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills.
  • Knows how to play well in the sandbox with others — collaboration with producers, game developers, business partners, and the Making Fun executive team is critical.
  • Strong project management skill set.
  • Understanding of social game category is a plus.
  • Creative mind is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
